The Steering Wheel
Gather the Women Nevada County is a non-political women’s organization that offers circles to help ground you, provide you with a safe space to be yourself and to make heart connections with others.
We are women supporting women on their life journeys, leading to self-empowerment. We welcome all women!
Ixchel Tucker
Ixchel is a ceremonialist and spiritual guide. She has a love for the outdoors, sacred sites and all things mystical.
She lives in Nevada City, CA and also travels to Mexico and other areas a few months each year. She studied and apprenticed with New Dream Foundation in Spiritual Ministry and to be a Keeper of the Womens Full Moon Water Ceremony, with additional study into holding space and native Path for Sacred Feminine. She leads local ceremony when available and helps keep our Gather the Women website, Meetup group, Facebook and other communications current.
Ixchel is a freelance writer, graphic and web designer. She is the author of two books:

Elena Lokvig
Elena Lokvig loves community. When she transplanted to Nevada County in 2004, she brought with her skills learned through her community activism in Topanga. She was an award winning expert in creating fundraising concerts. She joined the KVMR family and sat on their Program Committee for two years, assisting with their fundraising drives.
In 2007 Elena found Gather the Women and their drumming circle. GTW circles were a perfect match, putting her personal philosophy into action, “When we listen beyond words, we hear the language of the soul.” Elena’s dedication to the power of circle resulted in her joining the GTW Steering Wheel in 2016.
Elena’s livelihood, earned in a traditionally male vocation as a plumber, taught her how to survive in a man’s world. It also has given her a unique perspective on how to be a woman in that world. She brings this wisdom to GTW in a way that empowers others. While she has moved from plumbing to care giving, Elena continues to listen for “the language of the soul”.
Judith Hurley Prosser
Judith has a diverse background ranging from teaching to sales and writing to practicing Reiki.
Since the age of 4, when she learned she couldn’t be a cub scout because she was a girl, Judith has been an activist for women. She has held many leadership positions in women’s organizations and is co-founder of Gather the Women Nevada County. Judith has served on the Steering Wheel since its inception in 2002 and is the facilitator for the Drumming Circle. She is currently the Circle Conversations Fire Tender for the GTW Global Matrix.
Judith is the author of two books of poetry, Redwood Wisdom, Meditations for Daily Living and Oak Wisdom, Meditations for Daily Living. Her poetry was published in the Nevada County Poetry Series anthologies and appears in The Art of Living, A Practical Guide to Being Alive, an anthology including the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Deepak Chopra, Desmond Tutu, Thich Nhat Hanh, Jean S. Bolen and others.
Nancy Busey
Nancy Busey continues to mentor Sisters all over the world who wish to join Circles.
Involved with GTWNC since 2003, she has served as International Women’s Day Producer, Regional Coordinator and Treasurer.
With her background in complementary medicine and Theosophical studies, she brings insightful energy to any gathering. Currently, Nancy also serves the GTW Global Matrix, co-leading the SAGE Sister Circle (Sacred Access and Guidance from our Experience).
Ariann Thomas, B.S., J.D.
Ariann Thomas, is an author, international healer, teacher, ceremonialist, speaker, Akashic Record Reader and Healer, and Shaman.
She primarily carries the ancient wisdom and subtle energy of an elder, and advisor. She has been a member of the Gather the Women Nevada County Steering Wheel since 2015 and facilitates several circles including the monthly Full Moon Circle.
She is the author of the Amazon best sellers: Healing Family Patterns: Ancestral Lineage Clearing for Personal Growth (2012) and Changing Our Genetic Heritage: Creating a New Reality for Ourselves and Future Generations (2018) and has co-authored 3 international anthologies including the award-wining Yoga for the Brain: Inspired Words of Wisdom (2020). She is a monthly columnist for the Conscious Shift Magazine.
