Gather The Women (GTW) of Nevada County’s Steering Wheel
We call ourselves the “spokes” and serve as the coordinating team for GTW’s activities in Nevada County.
Judith Hurley Prosser has a diverse background ranging from teaching to sales, massage and Reiki to writing. Professionally, she is currently a legal office assistant for the Public Guardian’s office of Nevada County. Since the age of 4, when she learned she couldn’t be a cub scout because she was a girl, Judith has been an activist for women. She has held many leadership positions in women’s organizations and is co- founder of Gather the Women of Nevada County. She has served on the Steering Wheel since its inception in 2002 and has been the newsletter editor for most of that time.
Angie Lux spent many years as a programmer and systems analyst developing accounting systems for corporations before moving into management. She retired as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for a software development company and relocated to Nevada County in 2002. Toward the end of 2002 she attended a planning meeting for the first Nevada County International Women’s Day Celebration and has played an active role in Gather the Women of Nevada County ever since. Having filed for the 501c3 status for the local Gather the Women, she is currently serving as Treasurer for GTWNC and a Convener for the Gather the Women Global Matrix.
Rachelle Bloksberg has been an avid volunteer for many years. She began with organizations that support children and families and was a La Leche League leader for 10 years. Now she focuses her volunteer time supporting and empowering her community. In addition to the Gather the Women Steering Wheel, Rachelle volunteers for many organizations including the Read Up literacy program, the Nevada County Food Bank, Business and Professional Women, Women of Worth, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition, and a new Business and Professional Women mentor program that helps disadvantaged women transition into the workplace. Rachelle owns Sierra EEG and works as a Neurofeedback Therapist. She helps adults and teens with depression, anxiety, sleep problems, stress, pain management, and addictions. Ariann Thomas is an international healer, author, speaker and teacher and has been involved in the healing arts for over 30 years. Her primary healing practice is Ancestral Lineage Clearing. She wrote Healing Family Patterns: Ancestral Lineage Clearing for Personal Growth in 2012. She has been involved in women’s circles for over 30 years and is committed to empowering women. In addition, Ariann is the Co-Founder and Administrative Director of the New Dream Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the Sacred Feminine. She is a non-denominational minister; holds the energy of an Elder; and is a Ceremonialist. She is of Cherokee heritage and honors the Native American spiritual tradition.
Laura Strathman Hulka joined GTW in June of 2016. She is a third generation feminist, with a strong family history of spirituality combined with public service. She is retired, and has returned to college full-time for her B.A. in Women’s Studies. She is the publisher of the GTWNC Newsletter, helping editor Judith Hurley Prosser to bring the newsletter to almost 500 women monthly. She also currently serves as webmistress of our website, and assists Ariann Thomas with the GTW meetup.com site. She creates the monthly newsletter for Grass Valley United Methodist Church and is active in Indivisible Women of Nevada County. She and her husband of 43 years have two grown children and two grandsons, and have lived in Nevada County off and on since 1978.
